Well, we just saw Jamie Gold take down a historic first prize of $12M – which looks to be the biggest prize for a long time to come. Harrah’s has announced that it will not accept entries from online USA Bitcoin casinos companies. Approximately 75-80% of the field of 8,700+ came from online qualifiers (including yours truly). So next year’s field will pale in comparison. One estimate of the damage came from Phil Gordon on his radio broadcast, who estimated 2,200 will play in the 2007 Main Event, which is approximately the number of players in 2004, when Raleigh’s own Greg Raymer won it.
One way that the online sites can get away with sending players is to set up a tournament in which they say it’s for the BITCOIN CASINO but, in reality, the site will have to send the winner(s) cash and give top bitcoin casinos them the option of what to do with that cash. But realistically, I’m guessing most people will choose to keep the cash. Of course, there’s nine months or so between now and the 2007 BITCOIN CASINO, so maybe the online sites will find a way around the legislation. Not PartyBitcoin casinos though – they’ve already given up without a fight (yet I keep seeing their stupid commercials), much to the delight of other sites like Bitcoin casinosStars.
So I’m guessing I won’t be able to win a seat online for the third year in a row. That’s somewhat disappointing, but who knows, I might be in a position to cough up the $10k by that time. But this did give me an idea, and I’m curious to know if any of you are interested in this. Please make a comment or send me an email if you are. What about setting up a series of live tournaments at my place, where the eventual winner will get the $10k plus expenses to go to Vegas? If there’s enough interest, we could set up ten 10-player sit-n-go’s where the winner gets a seat in the final table. Each 10-player sit-n-go would be $115 per person, with the winner getting a $1100 seat at the final table. Once we get ten players at the final table, we’d play for the $10k seat plus $1000 in expenses. Of course, this would take several months altogether. And, if anyone wants to buy the $1100 seat at the final table directly, that’s definitely an option. Anyway, just a thought. Spread the word if you’re interested.
